AutoPostby Amasty
X (Twitter) integration · posts with media

Short product posts on X, published automatically

X rewards brevity, so AutoPost validates every caption against the 280-character limit before it is queued — you find out while editing the template, not after a post is silently cut in half.

Post types

What AutoPost publishes here

The post type follows the media on your product, so you do not have to choose per post.

Permissions

Which permissions we request, and why

These are the scopes the authorisation screen will show you. AutoPost asks for nothing beyond them.

ScopeWhat it allowsWhy AutoPost needs it
tweet.writePublish posts from the authorised account. The core function: publishing the scheduled post with its media.
tweet.readRead posts on the authorised account. To confirm a post was created and show its state in the app.
users.readRead the basic profile of the authorised account. To show which account is connected, so posts do not go to the wrong profile.
offline.accessKeep the authorisation valid without you being present. So scheduled posts can be published later — the point of a scheduler — without asking you to log in again each day.

Requirements and limits

Account typeAny X account able to post
CaptionUp to 280 characters, validated before queueing
MediaOne product image or video per post
LinksA link consumes characters — leave room for it
TemplatesKeep a dedicated short template for this network

Worth knowing

  • The 280-character limit is enforced by AutoPost, not discovered at publish time
  • A long product title can push a caption over the limit — preview against your longest title
  • Reusing an Instagram template here almost never fits; write a short one
  • offline.access is what allows posting on a schedule while you are away
Setup

Connecting takes about two minutes

Open Accounts in AutoPost

Go to Accounts and find the X (Twitter) card.

Authorise the account

Log in on X's own screen and approve the scopes listed above.

Write a short template

280 characters including the link. One sentence, one link, at most one hashtag is a reliable pattern.

Add X to an automation

Tick X (Twitter) as a publishing target and set the schedule.

Check the queue

Any caption that exceeds the limit is flagged before it is queued, so the fix happens in the template rather than in production.

Questions

About this integration

Why does AutoPost need offline access?

Because posts are published on a schedule, often when nobody is logged in. Without that permission the authorisation would expire and scheduled posts would fail.

What if my caption is too long?

It is rejected at editing time with the character count shown, so you can shorten the template. Nothing is published truncated.

Can I attach several images?

Each post carries one product image or video. For multi-image storytelling, Instagram carousels and TikTok photo carousels are the better fit.

Does AutoPost read my timeline or DMs?

No. It reads your basic profile and the state of its own posts. Timeline, followers and direct messages are neither requested nor accessed.

Data and controls

AutoPost stores the encrypted authorisation tokens, the account identifier and the profile details shown in the app, plus the posts you scheduled and their results. Disconnect the account in AutoPost, or revoke access on the platform, and the tokens are deleted. See the Privacy Policy and data deletion pages.
