1. You authorise the account
Connecting runs the standard TikTok Login Kit flow in a TikTok-hosted window. You review the requested permissions and approve them; AutoPost never sees or stores your TikTok password.
AutoPost connects to your TikTok account once and then publishes product videos and photo posts for you — caption written from your catalog data, media taken from your product gallery, timing decided by your schedule.
AutoPost is a Shopify app. The TikTok integration is the part that takes a post AutoPost has prepared from your catalog and delivers it to TikTok through TikTok's official APIs.
Connecting runs the standard TikTok Login Kit flow in a TikTok-hosted window. You review the requested permissions and approve them; AutoPost never sees or stores your TikTok password.
A template and, optionally, AI generation turn product data into a caption. The product video or images become the post media, and the caption is validated against TikTok's length rules.
At the scheduled moment AutoPost calls the TikTok Content Posting API to create a video post or a photo post. TikTok reports the outcome back and AutoPost records it on the post.
AutoPost asks for the minimum scopes needed to publish on your behalf and to show you which account is connected. Nothing else is requested.
| Scope | What it allows | Why AutoPost needs it |
|---|---|---|
user.info.basic |
Read the basic profile of the authorised account: open ID, display name, avatar. | To show which TikTok account is connected in the app, so you can tell several connected accounts apart and confirm posts go to the right place. |
user.info.profile |
Read additional public profile fields, including the account username. | To display the handle next to the connection and to link a published post back to the correct profile. |
video.publish |
Create posts on the authorised account through the Content Posting API. | This is the core function: publishing the scheduled product video or photo post. AutoPost publishes only content you have configured in your own automations. |
It does not scrape TikTok, does not act on other people's accounts, and does not post anything you have not set up. Before publishing, AutoPost queries TikTok's creator information endpoint to respect the posting options your account currently allows — including the privacy levels available to you and the maximum video duration your account supports.
You do not need to produce TikTok-specific content. AutoPost uses the media attached to your Shopify products and picks the matching TikTok post type.
AutoPost validates media against these limits before it uploads anything, so a post is far less likely to be rejected after the fact.

The values above reflect TikTok's published Content Posting API requirements at the time of writing. AutoPost reads the account-specific limits (such as maximum video duration) from TikTok at publish time, so your posts follow whatever your account currently allows. Check the TikTok media transfer guide for the authoritative list.
You will need a TikTok account that is allowed to post, and the AutoPost app installed on your Shopify store.
In your Shopify admin, open AutoPost and go to the Accounts page. You will see a card for each supported network, including TikTok.
AutoPost redirects you to TikTok's own authorisation screen. Log in there if you are not already, and review the permissions listed above.
After you approve, TikTok returns you to AutoPost and the connection appears with your account handle and avatar. AutoPost refreshes the access token automatically from then on, so you do not have to reconnect every day.
Create or edit an automation, tick TikTok in the publishing targets, choose a template and set the schedule. The next queued product post will go to TikTok.
Open Posts or the Calendar to see each post's status. If TikTok rejects something, AutoPost shows the reason it returned — for example an image that exceeds the size limit, or too many posts in a short period.
AutoPost does not claim rights over your product media or captions, does not reuse them for anyone else, and does not train models on your catalog. You are responsible for holding the rights to what you publish and for following TikTok's Community Guidelines and the platform's commercial content rules. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
Any TikTok account that is permitted to post and can complete the Login Kit authorisation. Accounts restricted from posting by TikTok, or in regions where the Content Posting API is unavailable, cannot publish through any third-party app, including AutoPost.
AutoPost reads the privacy options TikTok reports for your account and publishes within them. If your account or TikTok's own rules restrict a post's visibility, TikTok applies that restriction — the app cannot override platform-side settings.
The post is marked as failed and the reason TikTok returned is shown. Common causes are an image over 20 MB, a format TikTok does not accept, a video longer than the allowed duration, duplicate content, or too many posts published in a short window. Fix the cause and the post can be queued again.
You decide. An automation can target TikTok only, or several networks at once. Captions are validated per network, so a caption that is legal on one platform is not silently truncated on another.
TikTok access tokens are short-lived, so AutoPost refreshes them in the background using the refresh token. If TikTok invalidates the connection — for example because you revoked access or changed your password — the app flags the account as disconnected and asks you to authorise again.
No. AutoPost is an independent Shopify app built by Amasty that uses TikTok's public developer APIs. TikTok is a trademark of its owner.
